On the Road Again: Georgia!

Yes! After over sixteen hours of being cooped up in a car, I--we--finally arrived in *unnamed island near Savannah*, GA! Last night, we stayed in Atlanta, and the pullout bed was SO COMFY. We're sharing the house with a few other families, so we're never lonely!
So, I feel like I have to blog about this amazing restaurant in Manchester, Tennessee. Their hospitality was outstanding, and so was their food. The restaurant's name is The Oak Restaurant, and like I said, they're located in Manchester, TN. Our server was so nice, and I really felt out of place, since I asked him if they had sweet tea. Being from a state where if you want iced tea, you have to join the dark side and go unsweetened, sweet tea is a treat! I don't go to McDonald's often, which is one of the only places in my town that I know of that has sweet tea...Anyway, Oak Restaurant. Manchester.
Secondly--or third?--: GAS.
You Southerners out there that are reading this post are SO FREAKING LUCKY!! Gas in my region costs about $4.12 p/gal. Gas in the South? Around $2.90-$3.20 p/gal. At the gas station we were: only $3.03.
Boy, did my dad fill up on gas then!

I have a question for everyone:

Is "Southern Hospitality" a real thing? Northerners: Have you ever met an outlandishly mean or rude Southerner?
Southerners: If you are hospitable, does that mean that Northerners are hostile?
Other regions:What is the price of gas in your part of the country?

On the Road Again: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee

Sorry I haven't been posting...been really busy lately.

Anyway, my family is awesome enough to go to *unnamed town, island, or city near the coast near Savannah*, Georgia, so we're on the road, from *unnamed midwestern city* to GA. Right now, we're in Tennessee, we actually just left the Nashville area. But first, Illinois.

I don't know if I put this in my info, but I currently reside in the WAAAAY Upper States, making my journey a whopping 12+ hr drive to the South. Our route? First through the Windy City, then Indiana, and diagonal through that state. Next comes Kentucky, diagonal through that, then TN, go straight across, and finally, Georgia. Man, I can't WAIT to lounge with my friends on the beach! I'm so excited!

We started driving at 7:30 am Central Standard Time, and right now, it's 7:35 pm Eastern Standard Time(I think that's what it's called), so almost 11 hours, since you gain an hr going east. You won't BELIEVE what I've seen--

•an elderly man in Nashville not wear a shirt and drive *shudders*

•a young girl at a rest stop in Indy tell her mom in a bathroom stall that they were sharing that she "didn't know you wore a toe ring"

•That Trident Vitality gum is REALLY GOOD (the pomegranate kind)

•how many trees were on one hill in KY

•That there are tons of wind mobiles in IN.

More pics to come--no wifi for awhile!

"Everyone Disappears. GONE."

Title-Gone (Gone, #1)
Author-Michael Grant
Publisher-HarperTeen/HarperCollins
Pub Year-2008

This novel, which is part of a teen science-fiction series by Michael Grant, is a stunning 558 pages long, but don't worry! If you don't particularly enjoy longer books, you'll love this one because of it's gripping storyline. Gone is published by HarperTeen, which is an imprint of HarperCollins publishers. The paperback copy I picked up Friday at Barnes & Noble has served its purpose well, and only cost $9.99*.

Gone centers around a sleepy town on the coast of the Pacific called Perdido Beach, and a boy named Sam. Sam and his friend Quinn, along with his crush--Astrid--try to find an escape from an impenetrable dome that when prodded, gives off an electric shock that's enough to ward away the kids.

Oh yeah. The kids.

Basically, the title refers to the first few lines of the book:
"One minute the teacher was talking about the Civil War. And then the next minute he was gone."
Everyone that is fifteen or older just disappears from the city. When children are left alone for five minutes, they cause minor trouble.

But what about forever?

I won't say anything else because I don't want to ruin the book, but I hope you read it!

Cam.

www.thefayz.com is the series' site.

Warrior Dash=FREAKING AWESOMENESS!

Yesssss! I have witnessed my very first Warrior Dash, in the backcountry of __ state, in __ town, on __ Farm!! It was totally epic, and I almost passed out from exhaustion + being overheated...anyway, our made-up team was called "The Dirty Dozen", but we had 13 members, making it even better: a baker's dozen!
We all had a great time, and my mom, uncle, aunt, cousin, 2 classmates, a dad, a mom + dad, my OTHER uncle, 2 neighbors, and a friend of the first uncle all participated, my dad, uncle's wife, neighbor's wife, and I took pictures and watched...it. Was. Insane!

The Wallenda Wire-Walkers!

Not that long ago, actually, a little under 45 minutes ago, Nik Wallenda became the first person EVER to
cross the Niagara Falls on a wire. Wallenda has reportedly been called "insane", and crazy for his daredevil stunts that he pulls off.

Good job, Mr. Wallenda, for stepping into Canada, and the record books!

The pictures below are of the tightrope and Nik Wallenda.

I kid you not...

...my mom and I were driving, and we actually saw the pancake-flipping Mystery Machine!!!!!!
That was yesterday, and the other picture is of a car at our town's grocery store. So true, but when we first saw it, frightening.
The other other other picture is one that I found on this one app.

I guess the guy really wanted a car!

Over and out!

Say hello!

Hey guys, I'm back for some afternoon blogging, after going rock climbing at a HUGE gym with my mother. Heh. Mother.

It was funny, because on this one route(a series of tape or paint markings to show which areas may be used while climbing) had a particular tag(at the place I climb, there are tags, and that shows info about the route) that was truly confusing. Sadly, I didn't snap a picture, but this is what it said:

5.8
(the name of the route, I forgot what it was)
Tape color-yellow
Comments-
Naturals(grooves and ledges in the wall, also referred to as nats) on for only days with an even number of letters, and only after 11:37 am.
Route setter-
S. Smith(one of my employee buds)
Just kidding, you can use nats as much as you want.

Yeah, basically the guy was saying that you could only use naturals if the day had an even number of letters in the name, and if it was past 11:37 AM. Apparently, today, I couldn't use nats :(, only because it was Wednesday(9 letters), even though it was WELL past 11:37 AM.

Anyway, I want to welcome one of my best friends, Perri, to the blogosphere, as my second-in-command. Don't be alarmed if you see a 'posted by Perri at 0:00 pm' down at the bottom, okay?

Wacky Wednesday!!

People normally forget Wednesday--I know I did this morning when I woke up, so...ZZZ...ZZZ...

*jolts awake*
Sorry 'bout that...ANYWAY.

Question answering time!

Anonymous asked:
Are sandwiches made of sand?

I replied yes, but a realization was just made. In the movie The Little Rascals,
the He-Man Womun(that's how they spell it) Haters Club try to sabotage another member's--Alfalfa's--date with *wiggles ears* Darla, by pulling tons of pranks, one of which being sandwiches. What is soon after revealed, however, is that it isn't sand, but kitty litter. And apparently not clean.
So yes. Sandwiches could actually be made of sand...or another grainy substance...

Egg-celent Omelet!

So a few days ago, I felt very accomplished, because yours truly actually made a semi-perfect omelet for dinner! I say semi because I ran into a few...problems. All you chefs know that for an omelet, you whisk the eggs and toppings together into a small bowl. Well, I forgot to whisk, and I started making a fried egg. Whoops! So I dashed to our silverware drawer, and snatched a fork, whirring together the two eggs, desperately wishing that it wouldn't cook quickly. I successfully mixed the two eggs in the pan, and still, the omelet was cooking too fast. Minced onions and mozzarella cheese were thrown into the frying pan, while I started to fold it all together. A dash of salt, a pinch of pepper, and a fresh basil garnish later, and on my plate sat a freshly made onion-cheese-basil omelet. Yum! The pictures below are of my scrumptious dinner and what happened to it!

Happy Eating,

A TV show that I'm hooked to.

CAUTION. THIS HAS MINOR SPOILERS ABOUT THE MTV DRAMA TEEN WOLF.

When you hear the acronym MTV, what do you think?

Jersey Shore?

Ridiculousness and other prank shows?

Teen Mom?

How about Teen Wolf?

Honestly, I thought this show was going to be a load of bullpoopie, but actually, it's not so bad! The main character goes from zero to hero when he's bitten by an "Alpha", which is the leader of a werewolf pack. Except, one thing:

He doesn't have a pack.

Great show, and I'm on a mission to watch all of Season 1 in under a week. Already on s1, ep7-wish me luck!

Teen Wolf aires every Monday at 10/9 c on MTV.

Woot! 101 hits and counting!

Now I think I'm gonna watch a movie.

I have to post this before I forget...

Right now, I'm blogging and listening to Pandora, the Fun. radio. However, that isn't the band that I'm going to blog about. That mystery band is a group named MGMT. MGMT mainly focuses on alternative/electronic type sounds, and they're popular for songs like "Time to Pretend", "Electric Feel", and "Kids".

You may not recognize the name, but if you heard them, you'd know who I'm talking about. Their music has been featured in a few commercials, and popular on radio stations for their upbeat rythmns. If you don't normally like alt music, this is a band you'll love. The ensemble consists of two guys, Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden. The duo formed the band in 2002, with only the two college students, but after releasing Time to Pretend EP, they toured and opened for the indie band Of Montreal. For concerts and certain tracks, MGMT will add members, making their live band. Their live band are Ben Goldwasser, Andrew VanWyngarden, Will Berman, James Richardson, and Matt Asti. This band was formed in Connecticut, so they are States based.

The band's website is www.whoismgmt.com , and they love to accept fan art, no matter how strange.

Musically Yours!

Almost 100!

Hey guys!

Thank you multiple people for reading my mediocre blog...y'know, the one that's been up for, what, 2 days? 3 days? No matter how long, I want to thank ya'll.

I'm almost to 100 page views...it's sad that the fact that I'm not even close to popular. If you have a site, or know someone that does, could you ask them, or could you, to promote this page for *cringes* free?

So...uh...thanks...

Another YA utopia-gone-wrong!

Title: Matched (Matched Trilogy #1)
Author: Ally Condie
Publisher: Dutton Books
Pub. Year: 2010
Genre: Sci-Fi, YA Fiction

Rating: 5/5

“In the Society, Officials decide. Who you love. Where you work. When you die.

Cassia has always trusted their choices. It’s hardly any price to pay for a long life, the perfect job, the ideal mate. So when her best friend appears on the Matching screen, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is the one… until she sees another face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. Now Cassia is faced with impossible choices: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she’s known and a path no one else has ever dared follow — between perfection and passion.”(Thank you, www.matched-book.com!)

Ahhh! I LOVE UTOPIA/DYSTOPIA THEMED BOOKS!!! Yet another bestseller like Divergent and it's sequel Insurgent, Matched is a sci-fi YA thriller. Take a girl, Cassia Reyes, and a childhood buddy, Xander Carrow. Destined to be soul mates, but throw in one more mysterious pal. A GUY pal. Voila! Instant love triangle! And, for more action, mix in a corrupt government seeking the ideal city. Can Cassia trust the world she grew up in, or should she rebel against a perfect society?

Matched is the first in a trilogy, with the sequel being Crossed, and the third book,--which comes out in November--called Reached. For a hardcover copy, the cost is typically around $17 or $18, whereas the paperback is about seven or eight dollars. No matter what format you get, the book is worth every penny.

Happy Reading!
Cam.

The Avengers.

Ok, so yes. I get that this isn't a book.

BUT!

Ha. I said but. Heh. Heh. Heh.
ANYWAY!
Look at my description! Everything media, except gossip, 'cause it's lame.
Well, last week, I went as an end-of-year trip to the movies, to watch 'The Avengers', and it was TOTALLY WICKED!(Incredibles moment. ^.^)
The movie is basically a giant reunion of Iron Man(Robert Downey Jr.), The Hulk(Mark Ruffalo and Lou Ferrigno), Captain America(Chris Evans), Thor(Chris Hemsworth), Hawkeye(Jeremy Renner), and Black Widow(Scarlett Johansson). Of course, there's a LOT of fighting, jokes, and evil guys-Loki, who is played by Tom Hiddleston, is apparently Thor's half-brother. Loki wants to take over Earth, using his godly powers, and Thor wants to protect it. So, after a rumble in a forest with Capt. America and Iron Man, he-Thor- decides to join the Avengers. I really have no complaints over this movie, except that IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN ALL OF *THE MOVIES, IT'S VERY CONFUSING. Trust me, for the first half hour of the film, I was explaining the characters and such to my friend sitting next to me. It. Was. HARD.

This movie is rated PG-13, and it's runtime is 2hr 23min.

Rotten Tomatoes Rating-a 93% from critics=fresh.
My Rating- 5/5
IMDb link-http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0848228/?mode=desktop

*The Movies:
The Incredible Hulk(2003, but remade in '08)
Iron Man and Iron Man 2(2008 and 2010)
Thor(2011)
Captain America: The First Avenger(2011)

The Black Widow and Hawkeye DO NOT have their own movies, although they should!

Brit Band on the rise: Coldplay

Ok. I know what you're probably thinking:

Will she just post another book-related post already!?

The answer to that?
Yes...
No...
Maybe so...

Still, LOOK AT THE BLOG DESCRIPTION, people!

Coldplay, a British alt-rock band, is quickly becoming popular here in the States. Famous for songs like "Yellow", "Viva La Vida", "Paradise", and "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall", this band has trumped mainstream radio, and the Billboard Hot 100. This band was formed in 1996 by Chris Martin, and was originally dubbed "Starfish". This Summer, Coldplay is touring North America, starting in Alberta, Canada, and ending in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.

I'm lucky, because I actually get to see one of their performances! I'm really excited, and I'll post pictures after the concert. They're doing this concert due to a semi-recent release of 'Mylo Xyloto' (My-Low X-Why-Low-Toe), an amazing album with equally amazing tracks, my favorite being "Charlie Brown". Mull Xyloto is available on iTunes, as well as stores and on the band's website, www.coldplay.com.

On iTunes, Mylo Xyloto costs $9.99, whereas on Target.com for the CD, it's $21.99.

I feel that, although the price is high, it's SO worth the money.

Happy Rea-Listening!

First REAL post, Divergent

Title: Divergent (Divergent Trilogy #1)
Author: Veronica Roth
Genre: Sci-Fi, Dystopian fiction
Published by: Katherine Tegen Books, an imprint of HarperCollins
Pub Year:2010

Rating: 5/5

“In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves… or it might destroy her.”(copy/pasted off Veronica Roth's webpage, www.veronicarothbooks.com--thanks!)

Call me unoriginal for putting her blurb up, but it would be better than mine...

ANYWAY.

This was a great Dystopian novel, in a marvelous city...coughChicagocough...and definetly had me glued to it. I loved the book so much, I actually had it taken away during class by my Social Studies teacher. Lmbo. I did get it back, and as soon as I did, I kept reading it! Tris is the perfect heroine, and Tobias...oh, Tobias...dreamy, strong, Tobias...*snaps out of daydream* isagreatheroaswell...:):):)
